Ken Loach

Find out more about Ken Loach

We’re very grateful that filmmaker, Ken Loach, has agreed to act as an ambassador for our charity.

The societal reflections that Ken Loach creates in his films like I, Daniel Blake (2016) and Sorry we missed you (2019) highlight his determination to empower vulnerable people. This makes him a perfect ambassador and advocate for the work of Citizens Advice – Bath and North East Somerset, which aims to make a fairer society for everyone.

At the launch of our debt advice service in Twerton, the filmmaker drew attention to the plight of people living there, drawing attention to how many children are living in poverty in the area.

Ken has outlined the impact of Covid-19 on vulnerable people in our community and called for support for our charity’s efforts to help these people.

Dr Phil Hammond

Dr Phil Hammond is acting as our ambassador for our charity

NHS campaigner, broadcaster and comedian, Dr Phil Hammond has agreed to be an ambassador for our charity. Phil is an advocate of the work of Citizens Advice and is a champion for the rights of patients, continually calling for the NHS to increase transparency.

There is a clear connection between Phil’s work on patient rights and our service’s aim of making citizens aware of their rights, so we’re delighted that Phil is promoting our charity.

In January 2020, Dr Hammond joined us at the launch of our money advice service in Twerton, and said: “Debt and poverty have a huge impact on health and wellbeing, so I’m delighted to support this weekly outreach service.

“Getting the right advice about managing debt is as important as getting the right advice about managing diabetes.”
