Council Tax – Bath and North East Somerset

Action to take

There are No changes to the collection process, so all Council Tax payments will be expected as normal and collection action will proceed as normal if people miss payments.

Domestic abuse

Mental health

Action to take

If you are experiencing depression, loneliness, anxiety or any other form of mental health concern, please contact our partner, Bath Mind.

Bath Mind have recently launched, Breathing Space to support people within the B&NES community who are at the point of mental health distress or crisis.  The service is open 365 evenings a year, from 5.30-11.30pm.

The contact telephone number for the service is 01225 983130 (local call rate).

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this service will initially operate as a telephone support, returning to a face-to-face service from a central Bath location, when the coronavirus crisis is over.

Possession hearings

Action to take

No new possession action for rent arrears can start, but existing hearings are going ahead, and are being scheduled as phone hearings.

Bristol and Avon Law centre and putting pressure on the courts to consider suspending all hearing, but until then we should ask for an adjournment if your client is not able to manage a phone hearing.

You should check with the court if they have a hearing booked as it may still be scheduled to go ahead as a phone hearing.

Food banks

Action to take

If you are self-isolating and can afford to buy food, but need it delivered, contact the Compassionate Community service on 0300 247 0050.

Be aware that some food banks have closed and others have changed their opening hours.
