Citizens Advice – Bath & North East Somerset are exceedingly grateful to Sarah and Paul who walked the recent Bath Marches event in support of our charity and their thanks and the charity’s thanks go out to all those generous people who contributed.
Having completed the course Sarah said:
“Just to confirm that we did actually complete the walk as planned… and it was actually over 12 miles, so further than we thought. Now this may have been due to a slight extension due to a missed turn, but it was also because we walked down to the start and back up the hill from the finish. We would have done a faster time had we not bumped into people we knew on the way… that is my story and I’m sticking to it.
“It was pretty wet but not the promised deluge so we were actually pretty pleased with the weather. It was only really cold on top of the hills , which is great on a nice day as you can see across Bath and miles beyond, but yesterday meant that there was no protection from a rather strong cool breeze. This was where we made a slight detour as there were no markers and the ex-Royal Marine giving directions was not clear there being only land and no sea.
“Anyway thanks to all this who have supported us and B&NES citizen’s advice, by sponsoring us.”
Why is fundraising so important for our charity?
Public support enables Citizens Advice BANES to serve residents in its community, providing advice on benefits, debt, housing, discrimination, and many more topics. Last year, the charity’s actions put over £12 million into the pockets of some of the most vulnerable people in our district.
The charity is facing one of the greatest challenges in its 80-year history and all donations are essential in helping to meet the needs of so many people who have been impacted by Covid-19.
Sarah and Paul, and the charity, appreciate every donation that is made and the funding generated will go straight into the core service that helps over 8000 clients in the district every year.
