During the Covid-19 lockdown Malcolm’s wife, who works for Citizens Advice – Bath & North East Somerset has worked from home. Malcolm’s motivation to raise funds for the charity came from seeing the effort his wife puts into helping others and realising the lengths that she and her colleagues go to in order to help strangers.
Between 2nd and 6th July, Malcolm walked 50 miles from Newbury to Bath along the Kennet & Avon canal. He raised a sensational £1,468.53, which is helping to improve how the charity serves the community in these difficult times when providing a face-to-face service isn’t possible.
Here are some of the sites Malcolm saw along the way.
Every year, the charity helps over 8,000 clients and without public support, the charity’s service would be heavily restricted and many clients would not be supported. Many residents may now view the service as essential, as people struggle with the financial, employment, and other pressures stemming from Covid-19.
